Nashon Garrett is an American wrestler who was born on November 30, 1992, in Compton, California. He was an accomplished wrestler in high school and won four California Interscholastic Federation State Championships.
After a successful college career at the University of California, Irvine, where he was a two-time All-American, Garrett began to compete on the international wrestling circuit. He has represented the United States in various tournaments, including the World Wrestling Championships and the Pan American Games.
Garrett made history in 2016 when he became the first African American wrestler to represent the United States in Olympic wrestling at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Although he did not win a medal, he gained valuable experience and continued to compete at a high level.
Off the mat, Garrett is also an advocate for mental health awareness and has been open about his struggles with depression and anxiety. He has used his platform to raise awareness and encourage others to seek help when needed.
